Family Services Specialist II

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of social work principles and practices. The Family Services Specialist II will work with clients to develop and implement individualized service plans, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret laws, policies, and regulations related to human services program areas.
- Monitor, coordinate, and administer specific programs as assigned.
- Coordinate services within specific areas of responsibility.
- Interview and assess client needs, identifying relevant factors such as education, skill levels, abilities, interests, and support systems.
- Present cases to determine appropriate services and write/implement service plans.
- Provide case management services to monitor compliance and ensure timely delivery of services.
- Manage program waiting lists and track expenditures.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates and ensure payment for services.
- Complete necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary and interagency teams providing services to clients.
- Conduct overall monitoring of programs in specific areas of responsibility.
- Serve as a resource to clients and the community in area of expertise.
- Provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies in child/adult protective services and/or foster care.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area.
- Experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Family Services Specialist II will work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
