Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Team Lead will be responsible for the development, design, and documentation of mechanical and electromechanical systems, assemblies, and details for our automated manufacturing equipment. This includes the development of design solutions using a combination of creativity and engineering tools, as well as the management of design maintenance and the production of detail drawings and bills of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement design solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations and complete technical requirements and machine configurations.
  • Manage design maintenance, including the implementation of engineering change orders.
  • Produce detail drawings for all component parts and produce bills of materials for assemblies.
  • Attend and participate in design reviews for proposed designs.
  • Provide technical support to sales and application engineering, manufacturing, debug, test, runoff, customer, and field service teams.
  • Utilize effective time management and prioritization skills to complete assigned tasks according to priority and due dates.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in various electronic formats, project progress and technical information to various audiences.
  • Assign tasks and lead the team with the alignment of standards, processes, and specifications.
  • Develop and implement processes and process improvements.
  • Manage and approve team hours.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience with 3D modeling and 2D drafting software.
  • Experience with the application of GD&T in design and details.
  • Experience in machine and mechanism design.
  • Experience with automation equipment, including robotics, drives, and transmission devices.
  • Experience with fabrication methods and tolerances for the manufacture of industrial automation equipment.
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize simultaneous tasks.
  • Ability to work with other engineers and disciplines to relay technical information and effectively contribute in meetings, discussions, and brainstorming sessions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Must be able to work productively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize simultaneous tasks.
  • Project and team leadership experience.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • BSME/BSMT and 5-10 years of related experience and/or training.
Computer Skills
  • 3D modeling and 2D drafting software.
  • Business systems software, including ERP, MRP, and PDM.
  • MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project or other project management software.
  • Intranet and other basic computer skills.
Travel Requirements

This position involves minimal travel, however, could involve travel to customers anywhere in the world.
