About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Operations Manager to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping the highways that connect communities and drive progress across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and integrate resources allocated to the maintenance program, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Plan and direct maintenance operations, including emergency response and disaster recovery efforts.
  • Develop and manage workforce development, maintenance schedules, and long-range strategic plans.
  • Supervise and manage diverse staff, analyzing needs and implementing recommendations to support organizational values and goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state highway and transportation rules, regulations, and policies.
Requirements
  • Ability to plan and coordinate resources, manage multiple projects and schedules.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state highway and transportation rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with the general public, property owners, contractors, and VDOT staff.
  • Considerable knowledge of inventory management and roadway constructions and maintenance operations.
