About the Job

The City of Benicia, CA is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer - Lateral to join our team. As a sworn law enforcement officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, responding to emergencies, and providing excellent customer service to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain law and order, respond to emergencies, and provide excellent customer service to the community.
  • Investigate unusual or suspicious conditions, direct traffic, and investigate traffic accidents.
  • Administer first aid, give assistance to the injured, and make arrests as necessary.
  • Search for stolen property and lost persons, and provide information to the public regarding laws, ordinances, and traffic safety.
  • Issue citations to traffic violators, write reports of daily activities, and analyze facts, clues, and evidence to determine law violators and their whereabouts.
Requirements
  • Must be a sworn law enforcement officer in the State of California.
  • Must possess a current P.O.S.T. Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced Certificate.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of sworn law enforcement officer experience.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and have the ability to meet the standards of stature, endurance, agility, and general physical requirements as outlined in the P.O.S.T. Medical Screening Manual.
