A&P Lead Job Description

As a key member of our team at StandardAero, the A&P Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our day-to-day operations and maintaining our reputation as a trusted source for aviation repair and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of technicians in implementing processes and practices to ensure flight and product efficiency and quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and major inspections on corporate aircraft, including troubleshooting, repair, and modification of aircraft components and engines.
  • Coordinate and delegate assignments to technicians, providing technical guidance and oversight as needed.
  • Serve as a Delegated Inspector and make decisions regarding maintenance, sequence, and techniques.
  • Lead projects, coach, and oversee the activities of A&P Mechanic III and IV, providing guidance on proper mechanical procedures and techniques.
  • Ensure aircraft or engines are properly placed in the hangar or shop, protected, and inspected upon arrival.
  • Review Customer Request for Service Forms with the Crew Chief to determine the scope of work and special maintenance requirements.
  • Analyze technical problems associated with aircraft or engine maintenance, determining causes and methods of repair.
  • Test operation and repair/adjust engines, engine controls and accessories, propellers and controls, landing gear, hydraulic systems, and flight controls.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and ensure they are aware of standard man-hours on assigned tasks.
  • Keep the Crew Chief informed of job progress and any unusual or delaying findings.
Requirements:
  • Technical competency on assigned aircraft/engine(s).
  • Ability to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.
  • Analytical skills to perform complex mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Aviation training preferred, with factory authorized training on assigned aircraft or engines a plus.
