Sandridge Crafted Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for directing and providing safety program oversight across our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement behavior-based safety practices to promote a culture of safety and prevent workplace injuries.
  • Audit all aspects of safety procedure implementation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of safety incidents and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Monitor and document the effectiveness of safety control measures and direct the implementation of safety programs.
  • Manage the development of site-specific safety plans and safety training programs.
  • Work closely with operations leaders and employees to cultivate and promote a safety culture that identifies safety opportunities and documents trends and predictive analysis.
  • Provide safety leadership and direction across all locations and advise executive and operations leadership on ways to mitigate safety risks and continuously improve programs.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement safety policies and procedures for all employees and outside contractors' services.
  • Direct and lead internal and external safety audit programs and conduct safety audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform risk hazard analysis, determine effective controls, and mitigate risks to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and organizational support for the entire safety program, including promoting, developing, and establishing safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies on a local, state, and federal level and manage and control all safety regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Oversee workers' compensation claim correspondence with insurance companies and legal counsel as necessary.
  • Provide support and training as needed for all employees as it relates to safety at locations.
  • Lead safety incident investigation teams to determine root cause and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Establish and manage ergonomic, injury case management, and return-to-work programs.
  • Maintain and improve the overall facility security program to provide a safe workplace for all employees and control vendors and contractors as they perform their services.
  • Manage all resources in a harmonious manner that promotes and cultivates an atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork, respect, accountability, and a desire to improve all safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Oversee the safety committee and ensure that this team engages and leads in safety improvements.
  • Develop, foster, and lead/mentor a team to achieve significant results and develop future leaders/managers.
  • Ensure compliance and consistency with all plant/facility rules, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Support a system of progressive discipline and develop consistency among supervisory ranks.
  • Exhibit the characteristics of a determined, results-oriented, persuasive, and strong communicator/leader.
  • Fully understand personal accountability and responsibility and hold oneself to that standard.
  • Have both responsibility and accountability for individually assigned projects and assignments, as well as the ability to lead team projects and assignments (working manager).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field required.
  • At least 8 years of people safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA Regulations and general industry standards.
  • Ability to implement behavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safety performance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation a plus.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Work independently and can multi-task and prioritize work based on deadlines.
  • Handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Be highly detail-oriented.
  • Possess excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
