Senior Mechanical Engineer

The University of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Design Services team within Facilities Management. As a key member of a multi-discipline team, you will be responsible for providing design services for a wide range of University renovations, including classrooms, labs, healthcare facilities, athletic facilities, and student housing.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and manage scope, schedule, and budget for new projects in collaboration with Project Managers and stakeholders.
- Prepare design documents for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection using Revit for most projects.
- Assign tasks to project team members and assist in resolving complex or challenging issues.
- Provide engineering calculations and analysis of mechanical systems.
- Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy of construction documents as well as compliance with building codes and the University's Facility Design Guidelines.
- Perform construction administration services, including submittal reviews, punchlist inspections, and project closeout.
- Prepare feasibility studies to assess project viability and provide recommendations.
- Adhere to and assist in developing department standards.
- Develop and maintain project workbooks using eBuilder.
- Participate in meetings with project managers, consulting architects and engineers, University stakeholders, and others.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Work Experience: Seven years of mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency in drafting mechanical systems (Revit preferred).
- Licensure: Professional Engineer required.
