The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is seeking a Clinical Support Technician to become a vital part of our team. This role encompasses responsibilities of both Nursing Assistant I and Health Unit Coordinator (Clerical).

This unit consists of 30 beds, providing critical care for patients with various medical and pulmonary conditions. The MICU is experiencing a significant increase in oncology patients, allowing staff to gain specialized skills in oncology critical care. Our team emphasizes collaboration and a commitment to continuous education and improvement.

*This role is eligible for our Nursing Support Incentive Program, which offers $5,000 over a three-year commitment. Learn more about this program.

This position requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, with 12-hour rotating shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am), including weekends and holidays. The position comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including PTO accrued based on hours worked. Attendance at a mandatory weeklong hospital orientation is required, offered bi-weekly.

Orientation Schedule:
Monday and Tuesday - In-person from 8am to 4pm; Wednesday - 8am to 10am Virtual and in-person from 1pm to 5pm; Thursday and Friday - Virtual.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, including the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies.
2. Review patient care documentation critically, noting significant changes in patient conditions and reporting to a registered nurse or physician immediately.
3. Perform various clerical tasks, such as organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting visitors, researching information for healthcare providers, reviewing orders for accuracy, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records. Conduct routine quality assurance audits and inventory checks.
4. Provide clinical support, including cleaning work areas, maintaining office equipment, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, changing linens, checking supply inventory, and assisting in the orientation of new staff and students.
5. Deliver direct personal care to patients as outlined in care plans, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with mobility. Measure and record vital signs, height, and weight. Responsibilities may include specimen collection, skin preps, catheter care, glucose checks, simple wound care, and range of motion exercises.
6. Reinforce routine patient education provided by registered nurses or physicians and document patient understanding of instructions. Distribute educational materials as requested by patients or healthcare providers.

Qualifications:
Education:
● High School diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification:
● Must be listed as Nurse Aide I Registry with the appropriate health department.
● Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers required.
Experience:
● One year of clerical or customer service experience and six months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills:
● Proficiency in verbal and written English. Ability to develop computer skills if not already competent.
