Job Summary

As a Combat Medic Specialist with the U.S. Army, you will provide emergency medical care in combat and humanitarian situations. Your training will enable you to serve as a first responder, triage illnesses and injuries, and save lives. You will also train other Soldiers in lifesaver/first responder courses and provide care on base while not deployed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer emergency medical treatment to battlefield casualties.
  • Assist with outpatient and inpatient care and treatment.
  • Prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare patients, operating rooms, equipment, and supplies for surgery.
Requirements
  • Be between the ages of 17– 40.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Submit to background and medical screening.
  • Receive a passing score on the ASVAB.
Training and Development

Job training for a Combat Medic Specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, TX. You will also receive specialized medical training to ensure you are equipped with the skills to treat and manage a variety of health situations.
