Job Description:

CNA is seeking a highly skilled Surety Underwriting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating and managing risks in our Surety book of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze applications and financial requirements for complex risks, determining acceptability and pricing based on company guidelines and standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with agencies and brokers, negotiating and communicating with them to reach positive and profitable outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and functional areas, particularly in cross-sell opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date on state and territory issues, industry trends, and regulations, sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • Utilize advanced functionality in CNA systems to perform day-to-day activities.

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
  • Demonstrated high level of technical expertise and product-specific knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Typically a minimum three to five years underwriting experience.
