The Residential Living Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing, mentoring, and providing expert guidance to designated Supported Living Specialists and program participants. This position not only involves direct assistance to participants but also includes coaching and supporting the Specialists in their daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for and protect the rights of all participants in the program.
- Contribute to the service planning process, including preparing Plans of Care (POCs) and participating in participant staffing meetings.
- Supervise and ensure the execution of training programs outlined in participants' Personal Support Plans (PSPs), fostering independent living skills.
- Assist Specialists in empowering participants to make choices that enhance their community presence.
- Assess the support needs of each participant and provide recommendations to Specialists.
- Manage inventory lists for current participants.
- Coordinate health-related needs, including routine and emergency medical appointments, as well as medication management.
- Support Specialists in assisting participants with personal hygiene tasks.
- Participate in training seminars, in-service sessions, and staff meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of training programs.
- Help in creating nutritional menus and compiling shopping lists.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and key personnel.
- Monitor participants' health metrics, including temperature, blood pressure, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with the Team Leader and Residential Nurse to coordinate medical support.
- Prepare shift schedules and facilitate smooth shift transitions.
- Identify and address facility maintenance issues, ensuring safety standards are met.
- Ensure timely submission of monthly documentation, including medication logs and case notes.
- Maintain confidentiality and up-to-date records for all participants.
- Assist in the intake process for new participants through assessments of their independent living skills.
- Provide mentorship and supervision to Supported Living Specialists.
- Ensure participants are appropriately dressed and that their clothing is well-maintained.
- Oversee transportation needs and ensure they are properly managed.
- Monitor home upkeep and ensure compliance with agency standards.
- Regularly reconcile participant financial accounts.
- Manage the home budget, including labor, supplies, and food expenses.
- Stay informed about state and federal compliance regulations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
- Conduct hiring processes, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Oversee medication administration and review related documentation.
- Maintain 24-hour availability for the assigned home.
- Ensure compliance with training requirements as per agency policies and regulations.
- Monitor staff training and documentation using electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ensure accurate input of participant information into the EMR system.
- Perform additional support services and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Special Education, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- At least six months of experience in direct care for human service recipients.
- A minimum of one year of supervisory experience in a residential setting is preferred.
- Must meet agency insurance criteria for vehicle operation.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a supportive residential environment. Strong mentorship and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in using computers and electronic medical record systems is required. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to meet program demands.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Alaska Driver's License and certifications in Adult CPR, First Aid, Safety-Care, and QBC are required.
Immunization Requirements:
Annual PPD Test and Hepatitis B immunization (or waiver).
Working Conditions:
This role involves medium physical work, including lifting and moving objects as necessary.
Environmental Conditions:
The position does not expose the worker to adverse environmental conditions.
