The Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation (KPHC) is dedicated to fulfilling the vision and mission of the Santo Domingo Health Center (SDHC). The MISSION of KPHC is: "ENSURING HEALTH & WELLNESS THROUGH EXCELLENCE IN HEALTHCARE WITH RESPECT FOR CULTURE" and the VISION OF KPHC is: "HEALTHY PEOPLE, HEALTHY COMMUNITY, and HEALTHY LIFESTYLE".
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The CFO serves as the principal financial officer of KPHC, responsible for formulating and sustaining a strategic financial framework along with annual operational and capital budgets. This role includes oversight of the Controller, Director of PRC, and Business Office Manager, ensuring adherence to compliance standards. The CFO will manage all financial and accounting operations and processes within KPHC.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

- Engage with patients, staff, and vendors in a trustworthy and reliable manner.

- Take responsibility for daily operations and the health services provided.
- Ensure compliance with all KPHC policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional standards in accordance with KPHC Policies and HIPAA regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Provide proactive advice and education to senior management and the Health Board on financial matters affecting KPHC.
- Develop financial analyses for new initiatives, acquisitions, and business ventures; manage revenue and prepare financial statements in line with healthcare industry standards.
- Maintain relationships with external consultants, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with the CEO and Health Board to establish long-term financial forecasts and strategic objectives.
- Ensure that financial policies and procedures are current and compliant.
- Oversee KPHC's investment portfolio management.
- Implement financial information systems, including budgeting and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor business performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensure timely preparation of internal and external financial statements and reports.
- Guarantee accuracy and compliance of financial reports with GAAP standards.
- Finalize annual budgets and business plans for KPHC and SDHC.
- Oversee the completion of annual audits and present findings to the Health Board.
- Conduct financial analyses for new programs and initiatives.
- Develop strategies to enhance cash flow and improve revenue cycle management.
- Ensure compliance with financing document covenants.
Operational Management:
- Lead weekly meetings with Finance, PRC, and Business Office directors/managers, providing necessary guidance.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure accurate revenue collection while prioritizing customer service.
- Ensure PRC program operations comply with federal regulations.
- Maintain effective financial internal controls to track operational and financial data.
- Ensure timely completion of tax returns and planning.
Communication and Relationship Management:
- Advise the CEO and Health Board on critical financial matters and revenue cycle issues.
- Participate in relevant meetings and committees.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, auditors, and professional groups.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with external parties.
- Represent KPHC in professional associations and community service activities.
Personnel Management:
- Plan, assign, and review departmental work to meet objectives.
- Recruit and train qualified personnel for each department.
- Provide leadership through effective communication and objective setting.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals for finance and PRC staff.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Active CPA License with a minimum of ten years in high-level healthcare finance or accounting roles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of financial practices and accounting principles.
- Understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and provider billing practices.
- Strong grasp of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to utilize accounting software and recommend improvements to financial systems.
- Excellent organizational skills for maintaining financial records.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Indian Health Services (IHS) or Tribal Organizations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is typical of an office setting, with varying noise levels. Employees may encounter health risks associated with working in a health center.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Employees may need to stand, walk, sit, bend, and communicate frequently. The role may require lifting up to 25 pounds and involves prolonged periods of sitting and using a computer.
