Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Engineer to fulfill a comprehensive engineering role that encompasses extensive supplier and customer engagement, component and system-level engineering evaluations, and testing support throughout the development, qualification, and production phases of marine power equipment, including motors, generators, and gas turbine enclosures.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting reviews and independent verifications of Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, and Mechanical Packaging performed by others.
- Assessing and recommending design strategies to fulfill production requirements for new or enhanced products.
- Investigating solutions to product or process challenges.
- Working autonomously while utilizing expert knowledge from colleagues to make informed decisions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams to successfully complete technical projects within budget and on schedule.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as ANSYS, Unigraphics/NX, Solidworks/Creo, Matlab, Simulink, Flux, and SPEED.
- Secret level clearance and U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Experience
Additional experience in the following areas is advantageous:
- Execution of programs for the U.S. military.
- Knowledge of industrial and military design specifications.
- Manufacturing experience with electric machines, electric motor/drive systems, or rotating equipment.
- Specific experience with large (1MW+) permanent magnet electric machines.
