Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our clinical practice.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultation, while maintaining and promoting the health of patients.
  • Work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, performing according to the nurse practice act of the State of Texas and as part of a treatment team.
  • Model compassionate communication with patients, physicians, and the interprofessional healthcare team, and provide education to patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments.
  • Conduct physicals, order tests, and serve as a patient's healthcare provider, prescribing medications as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to manage and coordinate patient care, advocating for patients and families as needed.
  • Identify and address clinical and ethical concerns, and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Develop and implement protocols to ensure patient safety, and contribute to the development of professional practice standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement department strategies to achieve financial targets, and mentor others to do the same through timely documentation of care, decreasing length of stay, and optimizing efficiency.
  • Promote quality healthcare through integration of current research into practice, and participate in research and evidence-based activities.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, or Compact State Licensure within 60 days
  • Current certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or credentialed member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
  • Basic Life Support (AHA) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA) certification (not required for Employee Health, Employee Health Well-Being, Primary Care, and Telemedicine departments)
  • Prescriptive Authority, and DEA Narcotics License (DEA) within 6 months
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
