Your Responsibilities

Epic Games' Fortnite Battle Royale team is in search of a dynamic Senior Systems Designer for our Competitive (Ranked + Tournament) modes. In this capacity, you will enhance the player experience across these modes and develop features that engage, excite, and reward players. Our ideal candidate possesses experience in systems and progression design and has a fervor for crafting competitive play systems that cater to a diverse range of skill levels.

In this position, you will

Serve as the primary resource for teammates, providing expertise and ownership for progression, matchmaking, and related features. Lead the design of the Competitive landscape, focusing on systems that recognize players' dedication to skilled Battle Royale play while collaborating across disciplines to create rewarding progression paths. Oversee and maintain ranked play in both Build and Zero Build modes across all regions, ensuring optimal pacing of progression for an enhanced player experience. Develop additional avenues for showcasing player achievements across varying skill levels, regions, and social circles. Produce clear and concise design documentation, effectively advocating for them to stakeholders throughout the organization. Set a high standard for design quality through exemplary leadership. Collaborate closely with production to identify, prioritize, assign, and assess design tasks. Engage in strategic decision-making to ensure the design team concentrates on essential elements for achieving outstanding results. Participate in playtests and live gameplay to provide feedback and identify practical solutions to challenges.

Desired Qualifications

Over 5 years of experience in designing game systems with a focus on progression. At least 2 years of experience delivering updates and new features to players consistently or similar experiences that translate effectively. A comprehensive, cross-disciplinary skill set, capable of considering various aspects of a system and adapting as necessary. A genuine enthusiasm for the intricacies of a well-functioning system, including data analysis and simulations. Proven ability to empathize with players, possessing a deep understanding of player motivations, gameplay styles, and the impact of goal-setting on play. Strong interest in ranked and competitive play in Battle Royale and other multiplayer formats, with a thorough understanding of their effectiveness. A solution-oriented mindset, able to respond swiftly to evolving project requirements and drive informed decisions.
