Key Responsibilities

The Culinary Service Associate I will perform various tasks within the department, providing outstanding customer service while operating and maintaining dietary food equipment. Through regular interactions with patients, medical staff, and visitors, you will ensure efficient, courteous, and precise service. Responsibilities include:
  • Executing a range of customer service, food preparation, and sanitation tasks, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Fostering excellent communication with patients, customers, and colleagues, responding promptly to any concerns as noted by supervisors.
  • Evaluating customer needs and delivering products that meet those needs, as indicated by feedback and surveys.
  • Monitoring food temperatures during service hours and taking corrective actions when necessary.
  • Adhering to personal hygiene standards, including wearing the appropriate uniform as required.
  • Completing daily cleaning and sanitizing tasks consistently, reporting any discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment at all times, as observed by supervisory staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with all record-keeping requirements.
  • Carrying out assigned cleaning duties on a daily and monthly basis, as verified by supervisors.
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance and supply management.
  • Utilizing equipment responsibly and efficiently, as monitored by supervisors.
  • Training new staff on proper workflows and procedures.
  • Cleaning and stocking the work area before the end of each shift, as observed by supervisors.
  • Managing food and paper waste effectively, using resources wisely.
  • Checking inventory levels on assigned floors and in call rooms, as noted by supervisors and nursing staff.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service consistently.
  • Exhibiting professionalism and courtesy when interacting with patients, medical staff, and visitors.
  • Greeting each patient and customer warmly, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Addressing customer complaints tactfully, focusing on resolution.
  • Respecting co-workers and valuing diverse work styles and perspectives.
  • Actively participating in Relationship-Based Care and department practice councils.
Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
  • Prior experience in food service preferred.
Skills:
  • Effective communication
  • Relationship building
  • Active listening
  • Basic computer skills
  • Attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
  • Medium work - ability to exert up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
  • Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, and visual acuity.
  • Frequent typing, clerical tasks, and computer use.
  • Constant walking.
Hazards:
  • Potential exposure to bodily fluids, burns, and chemicals.
Working Conditions:
  • Occasional exposure to noise, wet or humid conditions, mists, and odors.
Travel:
  • Occasional travel may be required, but not regularly.

Compensation

Salary is determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and market evaluations. The stated compensation range reflects a good faith estimate by Bassett Healthcare Network at the time of this posting.

Pay Range Minimum:

USD $16.12/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:

USD $17.16/Hr.
