Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities, including grounds keeping, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work. You will also train and mentor adjudicated youth work crews, promoting a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, masonry, custodial, HVAC, and grounds keeping/maintenance tasks of ADJC buildings and grounds
  • Train, mentor, and supervise adjudicated youth work crews
  • Keep grounds well-groomed, weed-free, and install and maintain complex watering systems
  • Perform periodic inspections and preventative maintenance of ADJC facilities and equipment
  • Conduct tool/equipment repairs, maintain tool accountability, and operate power tools and equipment
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintain records of materials used and ensure completed projects meet specifications
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations

Requirements:

  • Two or more years of professional experience providing building maintenance, including landscaping or grounds keeping
  • Certifications/training in carpentry, plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, or grounds keeping preferred

Retirement:

This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). New members have the opportunity to define their contribution amount, and the employer contributes a dollar-for-dollar match equal to 5% of a member's salary. Employees are fully vested after 3 years of service.
