Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, masonry, custodial, HVAC, and grounds keeping/landscaping maintenance tasks
  • Training, mentoring, and supervising adjudicated youth work crews
  • Keeping grounds well-groomed, weed-free, and installing and maintaining complex watering systems
  • Performing periodic inspections and preventative maintenance of facilities and equipment
  • Conducting tool/equipment repairs, maintaining tool accountability, and operating power tools and equipment
  • Following all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintaining records of materials used and ensuring completed projects meet specifications
  • Responding to emergency maintenance situations

Requirements:

  • Two or more years of professional experience providing building maintenance, including landscaping or grounds keeping
  • Certifications/training in carpentry, plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, or grounds keeping preferred

Retirement:

This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). New members have the opportunity to define their contribution amount, and the employer contributes a dollar-for-dollar match equal to 5% of a member's salary. Employees are fully vested after 3 years of service.
