The Senior Construction Project Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the financial estimates and operational management of diverse commercial and industrial electrical construction initiatives.
Project Managers are primarily stationed at their designated project sites, with occasional travel required for meetings and coordination.
Company BackgroundEstablished in 1912, Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc., a subsidiary of MYR Group, Inc., has been delivering extensive electrical construction services to clients across the western United States.
Sturgeon Electric operates through two divisions, specializing in both power line construction and commercial/industrial electrical projects, positioning itself as a comprehensive electrical service provider.
The Commercial and Industrial (C&I) division of Sturgeon Electric focuses on large-scale commercial electrical undertakings, including telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, and high voltage distribution service and maintenance.
Sturgeon Electric is adept at executing projects utilizing Integrated Lean Project Delivery methods and provides pre-construction services, in-house pre-fabrication capabilities, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage project construction timelines
- Submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to clients
- Oversee daily operations of assigned projects
- Serve as the primary contact for project stakeholders
- Organize meetings, update schedules, deliver reports, and address outstanding issues as required by clients
- Prepare look-ahead documents along with weekly and monthly progress reports and billing details
- Monitor job costs against budgets
- Provide regular updates to the management team
- Create comprehensive cost estimates (labor and materials) for commercial and industrial projects within specified timelines
- Conduct field evaluations for estimate preparation
- Engage in the estimate review process with both internal and external parties
- Prepare material lists and other necessary information for procurement
- Schedule and conduct site visits with clients, subcontractors, and construction teams to assess constructability requirements
- Ensure accuracy and consistency across various project documents
- Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders
- Collaborate closely with project management
- Support construction teams throughout the project lifecycle in understanding and tracking cost estimates
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
Essential functions of this role are to be performed in a designated office or field location.
Adhere to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other relevant professional and ethical standards.
Candidate ProfileQualifications
- Over 10 years of project management and estimating experience in the electrical sector
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in interpreting specifications, proposals, and documentation for preparing time/cost/labor estimates
- Familiar with the National Electrical Code (N.E.C.) and applicable local regulations
- Capable of reading and understanding civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans and specifications, including blueprints
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experienced with estimating software such as Accubid or equivalent
- Skilled in preparing construction schedules using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Team-oriented individual who can effectively collaborate with diverse internal and external partners
- Self-motivated with the ability to maintain focus over extended periods
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary and Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $115,000-$140,000 per year, commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Salary ranges are provided in good faith and may be adjusted based on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
