Clinical Director Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Director to lead our dental team at the San Diego County Dental Foundation. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality dental care to our patients, while also mentoring and supervising dental students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the delivery of care to patients by dental students, ensuring comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment, and management of patients through patient-centered care.
  • Work with staff, students, and patients to ensure they receive high-quality care, and students receive a clinical education that meets the standards of each respective department.
  • Supervise the front office staff person/dental assistant, overseeing data management, billing, and maintaining a smooth operation of the clinic.
  • Coordinate with UCLA to schedule rotation of fourth-year dental students and prepare periodic reports for the SDCDF Board of Directors.
  • Hold regular meetings with VVSD personnel to coordinate scheduling of patients and ensure dental care meets the needs of the host institution.
Requirements:
  • Current CA dental license
  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school
  • Demonstrated skill in diagnosing dental disease from the clinical exam and radiographic analysis
  • Demonstrated skill in developing an appropriate treatment plan
  • Demonstrated skill in performing restorative procedures safely under local anesthetic
  • Demonstrated skill in performing extractions
  • Demonstrated skill in performing palliative treatment, including pulpotomies and pulpectomies
  • Experience in management of dental office
  • Experience mentoring dental students, demonstrating and assessing general practice level procedures in operative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, and managing dental emergencies
  • Ability to work with volunteers
  • Fluency with dental software
  • Experience in HR management
