Formulation Scientist

**Job Summary:**

The Formulation Scientist is responsible for developing new products, improving current products, addressing manufacturing issues, evaluating new and alternative raw materials, and seeking cost savings. This position will be responsible for formulating nutrient premix based on customers' requests. Ensures regulatory compliance, and complies with customer applications, shelf life, process, and stability. Participates in ingredient evaluation and provides internal blending instructions when needed.

**Responsibilities:**

* Develops and makes lab samples of custom dietary supplement blends
* Interprets customer requests into prototypes, such as great-tasting powdered beverages or tablets designed with various properties
* Works with R&D teams, Manufacturing, supply chain, etc. on scale-up and transfer of developed formulations to the plant
* Provides customers with technical support on dietary supplement formulations
* Maintains proper documentation of product development process and results and keeps equipment logbooks in accordance with R&D guidelines
* Complies with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs

**Requirements:**

* Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, food science/technology, or similar
* 2 years prior experience in a nutritional supplement industry or similar field
* 2 years in working with dietary supplements, pharmaceutical development, or similar
* 1-2 years experience in granulation techniques, processing, and property characterization
* Ability to formulate nutraceutical and powdered functional food prototypes based on nutritional targets as well as to consumer sensory acceptance
* Understanding of GMP manufacturing considerations and requirements
* Good interpersonal and presentation skills to share development work within the organization and with customers
* Ability to work in a physically challenging environment: lift 25 pounds and move up to 50 pounds when working with bulk ingredients, operate pilot scale equipment
* Be authorized to work in the United States

**Position Status:** Full-Time.
**Pay Range:** $30.00 per hour.
**Work Schedule:** On-Site, Monday - Friday.
**Location:** Torrance, CA.
