Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical Collector Specialist to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for collecting assigned accounts, securing payments in compliance with regulations, and providing thorough account updates on computer files. Your primary focus will be on call quality, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) adherence, and finalizing dispositions of assigned accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange debt repayment or establish repayment schedules based on customers' financial situations.
  • Conduct skip tracing on non-responsive customers.
  • Comply with relevant laws and regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Determine reasons for overdue payments and review sales, service, and financial obligations with customers.
  • Forward delinquent accounts to collections or legal when necessary.
  • Locate and monitor overdue accounts using the billing system.
  • Negotiate credit extensions as required.
  • Notify customers of delinquent accounts and attempt to collect outstanding amounts.
  • Prioritize securing company information, including confidential patient data.
  • Receive payments and ensure accurate posting to customers' accounts.
  • Record financial status and collection efforts.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a team-oriented environment, preferably in the medical field.
  • Strong customer service background.
Preferred Skills
  • Effective communication in English (oral and written).
  • Familiarity with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME).
  • Knowledge of major insurance carrier eligibility and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new skills.
