Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Professional to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for performing patient and quality control testing, developing skills and maintaining competency in routine and assigned laboratory areas, and ensuring a smooth transition to the next shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient and quality control testing
  • Develop skills and maintain competency in routine and assigned laboratory areas
  • Maintain proper inventories and correctly use supplies and reagents
  • Perform advanced equipment trouble-shooting and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure a smooth transition to the next shift
  • Participate in quality safety and compliance programs
  • Investigate documents and resolve problems or complaints
  • Serve as trainer and role model for technical staff and healthcare professional students
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a strong educational background in medical laboratory technology, with a degree from a NAACLS-approved program. You should also have relevant experience in a laboratory setting, with a strong understanding of quality control and safety procedures. Additionally, you must be certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) within 24 months of hire.
