Computer Science Course Assistant Position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Computer Science Course Assistant to support our faculty members with grading and lab duties. This position is ideal for students who have completed the course they will be assisting with an A or B passing grade.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Grading: Support assigned faculty member with grading of assignments, homework, and exams; handle student documents with confidentiality and discretion; communicate with faculty member(s) on grading parameters, requirements, and deadlines; meet faculty timelines for grading work.
  • Lab Assistant: Support students during lab periods; handle student challenges with confidentiality and discretion; communicate with faculty member(s) on student support needs, issues needing attention; consistent attendance to provide support to Lab students.
Requirements:
  • Applicants must have completed the course they will be grading or assisting with an A or B passing grade.
  • Student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing.

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated hourly wage for this position is $15.95, which meets the Portland Metro Minimum Wage. As a University of Portland employee, you will also receive a range of benefits, including access to health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

This is a part-time position, with varying hours depending on the needs of the faculty members. However, the maximum number of hours per day is 4, and the maximum number of hours per week is 20.
