Orthopedic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Job Title: Orthopedic Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner
Job Summary:
The Orthopedic Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in providing seamless care to orthopedic surgical and nonsurgical patients. As a liaison between supervising physicians and other medical providers, this individual ensures that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
Responsibilities:
- Completes ordered orthopedic consultations for supervising physicians.
- Orders appropriate testing/imaging for patient evaluation and pre-operative testing for surgical patients.
- Contacts physician when consultation is complete.
- Performs daily rounds on patients and orders appropriate testing, including radiographs, labs, and urgent studies.
- Schedules operative cases after consulting with supervising physicians.
- Performs appropriate bedside procedures, such as aspirations, injections, and application of splints, braces, and casts.
- Assists in surgical procedures as needed.
- Always demonstrates Service Excellence standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree required. Doctoral degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. 5-7 years specialized medical training.
- Minimum of 3 years of orthopedic assistance preferred.
- Must be board certified.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an active Florida Medical Licensure prior to start.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS at start date.
- Crisis Intervention/De-escalation Training (obtained within days of start date)
- Basic computer skills.
