About the Position

The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is seeking a skilled Food Service Worker to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for our residents, staff, and guests. Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals and snacks according to planned cycle menu and standardized recipes
  • Perform preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, dicing, weighing and measuring fruit, vegetables, meat and other ingredients
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, utensils and service stations
  • Follow guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control
  • Comply with relevant safety, hygiene and service standards and procedures
  • Serve residents, staff and guests in a professional, efficient and friendly manner
Requirements
  • Minimum one-year related experience and/or training
  • Ability to follow recipes and operate kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of regulations and procedures used in food preparation, serving and storage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years kitchen production experience and/or training in the culinary arts
  • Excellent understanding of food preparation fundamentals
  • Sound understanding of food allergies and foodborne illnesses
  • Experience with menu planning and creative food preparation techniques
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on providing exceptional service to our residents, staff, and guests. As a Food Service Worker, you will be working in a kitchen environment using equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, mixers, knives, etc. You must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
