Position Overview
The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is dedicated to serving the community through comprehensive, individualized support services. These services encompass spiritual guidance, case management, housing assistance, food and clothing distribution, youth engagement programs, and collaboration with local partners.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring cleanliness, performing minor repairs, and maintaining the grounds of the facilities.
Compensation: $19.00/hour, 29 hours/week
Location: Duluth, MN
Key Responsibilities (approximate time allocation)
- Execute custodial tasks to uphold organized and hygienic conditions within the facilities. (60%)
- Support routine maintenance activities on buildings and equipment (e.g., HVAC systems, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and power tools). (15%)
- Assist in loading and unloading food and donation deliveries. (10%)
- Conduct minor repair tasks to ensure safety, adhering to training and regulations. (5%)
- Help with special events and seasonal activities, including room setup. (5%)
- Manage outdoor areas, including lawn maintenance and snow/ice removal. (5%)
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience in custodial services.
- Successful completion of background checks.
- A valid driver's license and compliance with MVR standards are preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with safe practices for handling equipment, chemicals, and materials commonly used in maintenance and custodial tasks.
- Capability to perform various physical activities, including lifting, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, and other cleaning duties.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in using PCs, Microsoft Office, and database management.
Work Environment
- Regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking, and standing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Professional work setting; remote work is not an option.
- Clear communication with colleagues is essential.
