The Computer Services Specialist will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware, peripherals, and software throughout the college. This includes providing support to other computer services specialists and ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, repair, and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, and software
- Provide support to other computer services specialists
- Ensure the smooth operation of computer systems
- Perform wiring installation and moves/setups as assigned
- Develop working solutions and carry out work orders and assigned tasks
- Assist with desktop images and other critical local desktop enterprise agent software
- Coordinate and assist with move requests and faculty, staff, and computer lab projects
- Install and maintain specialized departmental software
- Be available for on-call duty on a 24x7 basis as requested by management
- Keep current on trends and developments in computer and network hardware and software
- Serve on the Change Management Committee periodically
- Travel throughout the college district as needed
- Serve on virtual teams for various projects
- Associate's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Networking, Computer Science, or related field
- At least three (3) years of work experience in a related field
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Windows environment
- Familiarity with personal computers and networking, especially with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Macintosh OS, and TCP/IP
- Knowledge of encryption tools and virtualization solutions
- Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed
- Ability to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation
- Commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
