Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacy Manager to join our team at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing clinical pharmacy programs, including formulary management, policy and procedure development, and education across the healthcare spectrum.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret orders, transcribe or verify them accurately, and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system
  • Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals
  • Comply with facility policy and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners, suggesting appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives as needed
  • Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection
  • Support participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds
  • Identify, design, and analyze drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and determine action plans based on results
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients
  • Develop, manage, and mentor pharmacy clinical programs, such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other programs as determined appropriate based on patient population and literature guidelines
  • Develop, manage, and mentor the antimicrobial management program (AMP)
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist
  • At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience, preferably within the area of focus
  • Completion of hospital PGY2/pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship (preferred)
  • Specialty BCPS certification (preferred)
  • Other certification, such as FCCP or FASHP (preferred)
  • Hospital Pharmacy Management experience (preferred)
  • Experience performing basic mathematical calculations, balance, and reconciliation of figures
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office, Meditech, Business Objects, and purchasing vendor applications
