Job Title: Merchandise Planning Specialist

Overview: The Merchandise Planning Specialist at State and Liberty Clothing Co. plays a crucial role in optimizing sales through the creation and implementation of effective merchandise strategies that align with corporate objectives for revenue, inventory turnover, and profit margins. This position provides a unique opportunity to influence the financial performance of the organization by achieving sales targets, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and delivering strategic insights to key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement comprehensive merchandise financial strategies to meet organizational goals, including both pre-season and in-season inventory management.
  • Conduct detailed planning at the style and color levels based on current market forecasts and historical data.
  • Regularly assess and report on the sales performance of existing styles, identifying trends and anomalies.
  • Utilize seasonal insights to guide future purchasing strategies and support the buying process with detailed analysis of attributes for new product assortments.
  • Establish and manage style count plans by sales channel and store group, providing necessary insights to the buying and production teams.
  • Perform attribute planning and evaluate performance against established plans at both class and attribute levels, suggesting actionable recommendations as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with buying and allocation teams to achieve shared merchandise objectives.

Additional Duties:

  • Prepare essential reporting for cross-functional analysis on a weekly basis.
  • Analyze the impact of pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Support the Merchandise Planning team during the monthly Business Review cycle.
  • Develop proactive operating models and frameworks to fulfill financial and merchandise goals.
  • Oversee inventory flow and assortment structure.
  • Conduct retrospective analysis and reforecasting for seasonal performance.
  • Collaborate with various teams and assist with special projects as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Planning or Allocation Analysis role.
  • Experience in merchandise planning, inventory management, purchasing, or financial analysis within a retail context.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on statistical evaluation.
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in analyzing and achieving financial outcomes.
  • Proficient in managing complex Excel spreadsheets.
