As a key member of our executive team, the Market CNO will play a critical role in driving the success of our hospitals and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Planning: Participate in the development of the hospital's and market's mission, strategic plans, operational plans, and policies in collaboration with the Market CEO, CNOs, management, and medical staff.
- Nursing Service Management: Manage the clinical and administrative aspects of Nursing Service, including planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, directing, and controlling.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Coordinate with ancillary services and other departments to achieve facility goals, collaborate with finance and other departments to achieve facility goals, and carry leadership responsibilities for other departments as determined by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Nurse Leadership and Development: Provide support and mentorship to CNOs within the market, lead nurse employees to enroll their support, create ownership of goals, and actively participate in decisions that impact the hospital.
- Regulatory Compliance and Quality Accreditations: Maintain necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations.
- Physician Partnerships: Partner with physicians who use or will use the hospital.
- Clinical Employee Recruitment and Retention: Create an environment that encourages recruiting and retention of clinical employees.
- Cost Management: Manage costs by continually seeking data to identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs.
- Nursing Practice Standards: Establish standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services.
- Patient Care Programs: Develop organizational patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered, and evaluated.
- Performance Improvement: Analyze areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
- Representation: Represent the nursing services at all meetings, including medical staff and hospital board of directors meetings, and participate with leaders in designing and providing patient care services.
- Education: Must possess both a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and a Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MSN, etc.).
- Experience: Must be a registered nurse (RN) with current licensure and have 7+ years of demonstrated successful leadership in an acute-care hospital environment (for-profit experience preferred).
- Skills: Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills, able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and patient's families, and able to maintain confidential information concerning personal, financial, or medical matters.
