Job Summary: ASPEN OF DC INC is seeking a highly skilled Reception Specialist to support our Washington DC Migrant Reception Center/Respite Facility operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with refugees, migrants, or other vulnerable populations and possess excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the reception and intake of migrants arriving to the District, managing intakes at the shelter according to eligibility criteria.
  • Process guest items according to District allowable items lists, provide orientation to new guests, complete intake packets, obtain releases of information, and enter data into the Department of Human Services-designated system.
  • Conduct basic/initial needs assessments for guests, coordinate onward travel to resident destinations, and purchase travel arrangements.
  • Provide information to clients to direct them to Office of Migrant Services information and services, and offer general migrant information services, food, and snacks.
  • Ensure information is provided to clients in their primary language through the use of the language line or other translation services.
  • Capture all supporting client data as directed by the District to support cost recovery efforts and District reporting.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Preferred: bachelor's degree in social work or other health and human services field
  • And/or Two or more years of humanitarian or migrant-support related experience preferred
  • One year of direct service experience working with refugees, migrants, or other vulnerable populations (required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Registration or Certification including Project Management
  • Fluency in Spanish (bilingual English and Spanish)
  • DC residents will receive priority
