Job Overview

The role involves operating a gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver goods, whether in bulk or packaged form, by executing the following responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Navigate truck to designated locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and provide reports on its condition.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the truck and trailer as necessary.
  • Secure receipts for all loads collected.
  • Keep an accurate log of mileage and fuel receipts in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors via telephone or radio for delivery instructions.
  • Inspect essential truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and coolant levels.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires and replacing light bulbs.
  • Utilize blocks and ropes to secure cargo during transport.
  • Ensure the storage area for trucks is kept clean and organized.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in English.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic.
  • Reasoning Ability: General problem-solving skills.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Fork Lift License from Mechanical Devices Company and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
