Job Summary

The Process Engineer is a critical role within Freeport LNG, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our liquefaction facilities. As a key member of our technical team, you will provide process engineering guidance to our operating facilities, recommending improvements to process systems design, operational practices, and controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide process engineering support to operating facilities, including recommendations for process systems design, operational practices, and controls.
  • Support and execute optimization plans for the LNG process, aligning with company goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with plant operations personnel to troubleshoot process issues and concerns.
  • Develop and conduct process simulations to investigate system steady-state responses, supporting diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Propose design solutions and performance test requirements to optimize production or resolve process-related incidents.
  • Develop and utilize process monitoring tools to enhance production and efficiency performance.
  • Support preliminary cost estimates and schedules for capital and facility upgrade projects.
  • Ensure thorough understanding and application of the technical Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Facilitate and participate in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOP) to ensure safety in design and facility operations.
  • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) and other process safety and technical studies.
  • Facilitate and participate in incident investigation to analyze equipment and system failures and deviations, providing solutions and corrective actions to root causes.
  • Assure operations requirements are considered on major projects and support operations readiness and turnaround activities.
  • Interact with and support Commercial Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and other departments to ensure process data and analyses are available to support company business objectives.
  • Provide process engineering support for the commissioning, start-up, and operation of the LNG plant and/or new process units installed in the facility.
  • Participate in audits as a technical resource.
  • Conduct process-based technical training for operations staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • 7+ years of process engineering experience with LNG, NGL, natural gas processing operation, and troubleshooting in an industrial facility.
  • Knowledge of PSM and PHA studies.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering, 10+ years of process engineering experience in a LNG export facility, and experience with APCI C3MR technology and systems.

Working Conditions and Physical Expectations:

  • Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
  • Operates in an industrial plant environment.
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
  • Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to drive to other company work locations as required.
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
  • Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift.
  • Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and move items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
  • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions.
  • May be required to enter confined spaces.
  • May be required to work at elevated heights.
