Geriatric Care Leadership Physician

The Veterans Health Administration is in search of a dedicated physician to serve as the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for the Geriatric and Extended Care (GEC) Service. This role is integral to the Executive Leadership team, focusing on enhancing the accessibility, experience, and quality of healthcare for our elderly Veterans while upholding the mission of the VA.
Eligibility
This position is open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or individuals who owe allegiance to the U.S. Non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens are not available.
Key Responsibilities
The ACOS will lead the GEC service line, ensuring a cohesive and functional approach to geriatric care, services, and programs. Responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership and direction for comprehensive geriatric patient care and support services.
- Overseeing program development and resource alignment.
- Supervising clinical providers, administrative managers, and support staff.
- Fostering a collaborative team environment and facilitating staff training and orientation.
- Ensuring compliance with clinical performance measures and enhancing Veteran access to care.
- Collaborating with Quality and Patient Safety Services to meet regulatory requirements.
Work Schedule
This position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- A current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited specialty program.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in geriatric or extended care is highly desirable.
