MRI Imaging Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the MRI department under the direction of a physician.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols to protect patients and staff.
- Operate MRI equipment to produce high-quality images using established guidelines and protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and ensure their comfort and safety.
- Start IV access and inject media under the direction of a physician, as needed.
- Prepare and position patients for procedures using established MRI protocols to achieve optimal image quality.
- Provide instruction and guidance to students and residents, as needed.
- Assist in maintaining supply inventory and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Experienced candidates should have completed MRI training/competency via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
- Inexperienced candidates must be certified in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, Sonography, or Vascular Sonography.
- Associate's Degree preferred, but not required.
- MRI experience preferred but not required.
- Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) is required for experienced candidates.
- Inexperienced candidates must be registered in X-Ray, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy by one or more of the following agencies: ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required.
The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive), and repetitive motion using a computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are required, as well as attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. The ability to lift/push/pull lbs. may be required, and the job may involve exposure to cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
