Job Title: Melter/Caster

Wieland Group is seeking a skilled Melter/Caster to join our team in Pine Hall, NC. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing various semi-skilled functions to support casting operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, rebuild, set-up, maintain, and operate equipment used in the continuous casting process for copper tubing production.
  • Operate and handle melting/holding furnaces.
  • Handle and work with refractory materials, including castables and ramming mixtures.
  • Support activities such as production, tool changes, quality checks, production PMs, reline tasks, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Handle, charge, and melt copper.
  • Handle copper cathodes, chops, and plant scrap.
  • Perform quality checks and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
  • Physical demands include firm grasping, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, standing, crouching, sitting, negotiating stairs, ladders, and slippery surfaces in a hot/cold environment.
  • Ability to work safely with and around cleaning chemicals, solvents, copper fumes, inks, and lubricants.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and wear personal protective equipment.
