Job Summary

As an Avenger Missile System Operator with the Army National Guard, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Avenger surface-to-air missile system. This system is designed to identify, track, and engage enemy targets such as cruise missiles and low-flying aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain the Avenger electronic, hydraulic, radar, and mechanical components
  • Perform target engagement evaluations and operate friend-or-foe identification equipment
  • Transport, prepare, reload, and resupply missiles and ammunition
  • Establish and maintain radio communications
Requirements
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

As an Avenger Missile System Operator, you will have the opportunity to develop valuable skills in air defense artillery tactics, techniques, and procedures. You will also learn how to navigate terrain using maps, compass, and GPS devices, and how to utilize digital communications equipment to identify and receive target information and engagement orders.

Job training for Avenger Missile System Operators consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training.
