Production Planner Job Description

PeopleShare is seeking a skilled Production Planner to join our team at a leading Food Group in Swedesboro, NJ. As a Production Planner, you will play a critical role in creating and completing the daily Production plan, collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule daily/weekly production plans for all production lines based on open production orders and demand forecasts.
  • Coordinate weekly capacity and labor plans, communicating with stakeholders and management on potential exposure.
  • Participate in the S&OP forecast process, responsible for building and aligning 3-month forecasts by brand/product group based on sales and marketing plan input.
  • Work with marketing/sales to ensure new product launch volumes are properly planned, monitoring early-life sales and adjusting forecasts as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy scorecards based on planned versus actual production, providing reasons for discrepancies.
  • Communicate constraints/delays to sales, operations, production teams, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage post-production reporting, including yield adjustment percentages on grinds and cuts.
  • Co-manage microwave schedules and TTC scheduling (Transfer to Cooler).
  • Possess the ability to pivot and make logical decisions in a changing environment.
  • Ability to calculate basic math equations, such as yield calculations.
  • Work cross-functionally with supply and production teams based on realistic forecast trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management within scope and ability.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations/Supply Chain Operations or related experience in the same industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong continuous improvement skills and ability to research problems and develop solutions.
  • Ability to produce ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Expert Excel knowledge required.
  • ERP/MRP knowledge preferred.
  • Power BI knowledge preferred.
  • Production Planning Modules experience a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to teams and across different departments of the business.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring compliance by staff.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Understanding and adherence to all safety regulations, SOPs, GMP guidelines, and policies and procedures set forth by Thomas Foods International, USA.
