Job Summary:

As a Healthcare Support Specialist on our Surgical Nursing Unit, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our team of licensed nurses. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will perform a variety of tasks related to patient care and hygiene, including assisting with activities of daily living, collecting data on assigned patients, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the maintenance of unit supplies, including stocking nurse servers, cleaning instruments and equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts.
  • Collect data on assigned patients as directed by Registered Nurse and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Perform or assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, vital signs, and meal trays.
  • Prepare patients for transportation and/or transport.
  • Complete HCT Safety Checklist at the beginning of each shift.
  • Receive delegated responsibilities from RN each shift and maintain close communication during shift regarding completion of tasks/responsibilities.
  • Maintain patient safety as the highest priority level, ensuring safety measure compliance such as fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and patient ambulation safety.

Requirements:

  • Completion of CNA coursework within the past 24 months, or successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program, or worked as a CNA within the past 24 months, or successful completion of at least one semester of nursing clinical experiences, or documented relevant medical military training.
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients.
