Job Summary

MHI Ship Repair & Services is a leading marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration, and commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipefitter Lead to join our team at our shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the work of Pipefitters who lay out, install, and maintain ship piping systems and schedule work daily.
  • Ensure quality assurance and safety procedures are met and ship checks jobs for plan accuracy.
  • Ensure that all employees have the tools and supplies they need and that they are in working order.
  • Read and interpret work specifications to plan and execute their requirements.
  • Coordinate work schedules with other trades as required.
  • Complete required paperwork in a timely manner (i.e., Condition Reports, Q.A. tickets, WAF forms).
  • Oversee timecard process and ensure time charged to correct account.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six years of related pipefitting experience with some supervisory responsibilities.
  • Must have knowledge of Mil-Standards and Q.A. requirements.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of all hand tools, bending machines, and other equipment used in trade.
  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to motivate others.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
