Position Summary:
As an Automation Control Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing client specifications and requirements, executing electrical designs for controls and power distribution, developing and testing PLC and HMI programs, and evaluating control hardware and systems. Your role will require innovative thinking and engineering principles to design bespoke machining projects that incorporate automation techniques.

  • Develop, document, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs following established company protocols.
  • Design and implement machine safety measures and industrial network systems.
  • Conduct in-house testing on control components and systems, and perform equipment evaluations at client locations as needed.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and provide recommendations to manufacturing teams.
  • May serve as Lead Automation Control Engineer as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager regarding assignment progress.
  • Complete all necessary project documentation and produce meaningful project control records.
  • Travel as necessary to fulfill project requirements.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and colleagues to ensure seamless system implementations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time; international travel may be necessary based on project needs.
  • Program all control components, including PLCs, safety devices, HMIs, servo drives, process hardware, and robots, from initial power-on through debugging and final process validation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in control systems, including familiarity with hardware design, PLCs, HMIs, Vision Systems, and Robotics programming.
  • Proficient knowledge of current programmable controllers and associated technologies.
  • Understanding of common control and computer architectures, networking, and interfacing with higher-level computer systems.
  • Experience in selecting, programming, and integrating industrial control devices, sensors, PLCs, and HMIs; experience with Siemens or Allen Bradley PLCs is essential.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of production machinery and equipment (including Robots, LVDT and pressure transducers, dispensing systems, temperature controllers, DC nutrunner torque controllers, current and power meters, induction heating systems, box erectors, labelers, laser markers, dot peen pin stampers, etc.).
