About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Physical Electrical Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia. As a key member of our multi-discipline team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality substation designs for our projects. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the successful completion of our projects, and you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design efficient and reliable high voltage substations, working under the leadership of the Supervising Engineer.
  • Prepare substation plan and profile view, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, cable trench, cable trays, conduit layout, and detail installation drawings.
  • Conduct studies and design calculations, including load flow, short circuit, Arc Flash, grounding, TOV, EMF, transformer sizing, and cable sizing, using software such as WinIGS, ETAP, SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP.
  • Provide input into improvement ideas during project execution and close-out.
  • Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment, evaluate proposals from vendors, and review vendor drawings.
  • Deliver accurate and thorough designs that meet industry standards and specifications, and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
  • Resolving site queries, attending site meetings, and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.
  • Maintain complete project documentation with respect to substation design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements, and return data information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of working experience in high-voltage substation design for renewable developers and electrical utility clients.
  • Registered as a PE or meet eligibility criteria.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including client relations, project team communications, and proposal and report development.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
