Production Operator and Equipment Specialist

Adecco US, Inc. is currently assisting a local food manufacturing company in recruiting for Production Operators and Machine Operators in Westbrook, ME. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with a starting pay rate of $19+/HR, plus potential incentives and overtime.

Schedules:

6:30AM Start Time - Monday - Thursday Hour Shifts

8-Hour Monday - Friday Schedule available, as well

Position Summary:

The position receives prepared product from mixers and operates equipment that packs and labels the product.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate with other line operators, line workers, and agency workers in the operation of the packing equipment from loading of empty containers to palletizing of filled containers.
  • Assist other Line Operators and Line Workers in keeping work area tidy, perform routine clean ups, and perform line checks according to quality controls.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation of quantities of product packed and accuracy of blocking patterns on pallets.
  • Responsible for the rate of throughput of the packing line in achieving targeted standards of production.
  • Responsible for keeping maintenance personnel aware of equipment problems and working with maintenance personnel to keep equipment up and running.
  • Must know which critical operations to shut down in an emergency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Responsible for working in a safe and healthy manner, and to take reasonable care of the health and safety of all other staff. Perform daily stretching and/or proper ergonomics of workstation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires high school diploma (or GED equivalent) and good basic arithmetic skills.
  • Must be safety conscious with respect to operating equipment and worker work practices.
  • Must cooperate with and support other team members.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normally standing/walking with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (10 hours or more).
  • Frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent physical activity requires walking, standing, and lifting.

Work Conditions:

  • Physical surroundings are in an indoor setting in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent exposure to heat, humidity, and a wet environment.
  • The noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: hearing protection while working on retail lines, dust protection in powder options, heat resistant gloves when applicable.
