Overview

As a Transportation Systems Engineer, you will be expected to operate both autonomously and collaboratively. Your main focus will be on roadway enhancement initiatives for DOT and municipal projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Innovative mobility technology solutions - Assist in the assessment, formulation, and implementation of TSM&O/ ITS strategies, including Connected Automated Vehicle technology, Adaptive Signal Control Technology, and Real-time Travel Time Systems.
  • Create design schematics.
  • Conduct design computations, quantity assessments, and verify calculations and schematics.
  • Develop Concept of Operations (ConOps) and additional Systems Engineering documentation.
  • Generate technical documentation, such as feasibility studies, concept reports, concept plans, and testing protocols.
  • Draft requests for proposals (RFP) and scope documentation encompassing technical, functional, and design specifications for ITS projects intended for procurement by client agencies.
  • Execute ITS analysis and produce design - project plans, specifications, and estimates for various ITS components including fiber optic or wireless communications, CCTV cameras, detectors, DMS, video walls, and other ITS/Technology devices.
  • Review design plans, specifications, shop drawings, and other technical documentation created by others, providing feedback on adherence to design standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Support traffic signal design and highway illumination projects.
  • Conduct Signalization and ITS field assessments, troubleshooting, maintenance, management, data collection, and analysis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • PE Registration (preferred) or the capability to obtain.
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level II (preferred).
  • 4-10 years of pertinent experience.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation (required) and Synchro (preferred).
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-motivation to meet client deadlines.
