Ecological Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Ecological Project Manager to join our team at PEA Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing ecological services on multiple projects for private and public land development clients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct wetland, tree, and threatened and endangered species surveys and assessments.
- Provide QA/QC review of staff's wetland boundaries and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assign, prepare, and review regulatory permitting, including project plan reviews and submissions.
- Attend internal and external meetings to progress projects through the permitting process.
- Develop and prepare proposals for ecological services, including estimated costs and fieldwork timelines.
- Assist in achieving QA/QC goals and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Manage day-to-day operational activities for ecological services, including coordination with other departments and technical staff.
- Provide technical expertise for MiSQT surveying and reporting.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders regarding project progress and outcomes.
- Mentor and train junior staff members in ecological services and project management.
- Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Professional Wetland Scientist certification preferred or ability to obtain within a year.
- 8 years of experience conducting wetland delineations, State of Michigan and local regulatory permitting, and report writing.
- 3 years of experience in project management.
- Technical knowledge of wetlands, streams, lakes, and/or floodplain statutes and development regulations.
- Working knowledge of site and construction plan process.
- Technical knowledge of wetland mitigation construction and monitoring.
- Working knowledge of typical computer software programs and/or devices used for ecological services (GPS sub-meter unit, Google Earth, Arc GIS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage projects, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and move projects through their ecological phases.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with public agencies and clients.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and independent judgment.
- Self-motivated and ability to motivate others.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Strong understanding of financial management and ability to focus on client satisfaction.
- Strong, well-developed conflict resolution skills.
