Labor Organizing Specialist

The Labor Organizing Specialist - Union Field Work will play a critical role in developing and implementing organizing strategies to win union recognition and improve the lives of working people.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership Development: Identify, recruit, and develop worker leaders and community allies to build a strong and active union presence.
- Strategic Communication: Develop and communicate the union's vision and plan to win union recognition, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Meeting Leadership: Lead organizing meetings and conduct basic research and logistics of an organizing campaign.
- Team Collaboration: Exercise leadership with workers and community members, moving them to take action to build the union, and maintain regular and accurate reporting of work to the Organizing Director.
- Trade Union Principles: Demonstrate a deep commitment to trade union principles and values.
- Communication Skills: Possess exceptional interpersonal communication, listening, and organizing persuasion skills with workers, members, and community allies.
- Campaign Organizing: Show proficiency in campaign organizing practices to overcome opposition and secure majority support among workers.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate in team settings with diverse groups of union staff and members.
- Analytical Skills: Analyze challenges in organizing assignments and prioritize work effectively.
- Emotional Intelligence: Possess emotional intelligence and professional self-management under pressure.
- Judgment and Initiative: Make sound independent judgments and take initiative when necessary.
- Union Knowledge: Have a strong understanding of the union history, organization, divisions, and programs.
- Labor Laws: Proficiency in relevant state or federal labor practices.
- Field Database Systems: Familiarity with field database systems.
- Writing and Communication: Proficiency in professional and campaign writing, word processing, and email communication.
- Time Management: Punctuality and adherence to professional standards of behavior and appearance.
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- A strong commitment to improving the lives of working people and achieving social justice.
The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. The position also offers a range of benefits, including 401(k), competitive salary, dental insurance, health insurance, paid time off, training & development, and vision insurance.
