Key Skills Required:
- Experience in Aircraft Testing
- Availability for 1st or 2nd shift
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- A minimum of four (4) years in an avionics or electrical field is required, or two (2) years of accredited education in aviation electronics along with two (2) years of relevant experience. An A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license is preferred, as well as other certifications such as FCC or NCATT.
Role Overview:
The Avionics Technician II provides specialized knowledge in testing aircraft systems, diagnosing issues, and rectifying discrepancies to minimize schedule disruptions. This role showcases technical proficiency by implementing process improvements aimed at reducing costs while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit technical skills in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.
- Conduct installation and functional testing of electrical and avionics components and systems on aircraft according to engineering specifications, ensuring a defect-free outcome.
- Guarantee quality and efficiency in all installations, troubleshooting processes to deliver timely and effective repairs of malfunctioning systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively repair or replace defective components and wiring, ensuring compliance with installation standards.
- Perform engineering changes and modifications as necessary.
- Set up and operate essential testing equipment, conducting functional and operational evaluations to assess performance and reliability.
- Ensure all work on the aircraft is thoroughly documented and prepared for inspection.
- Test and maintain test equipment, electronic systems, and components.
- Adhere to company policies regarding FOD, tool control, and safety regulations.
- Adapt to unexpected schedule changes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Other Qualifications:
- Preferred proficiency in operating and troubleshooting various aircraft systems beyond avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical capability to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
