Position Overview

This role is integral to providing support to military personnel and their families. Candidates must possess a local presence or be willing to relocate and hold an independent level license as a Social Worker (LICSW or LICSW-CP), Mental Health Counselor (LPC), or Therapist (LMFT) or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive MFLC consultation and counseling services to military service members and their families as an embedded counselor within a dedicated military unit.
  • Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling directly to service members and their families, including assessment, brief counseling, action planning, and resource referrals.
  • Conduct training sessions and health and wellness presentations as requested, ensuring that services are tailored to the unique needs of the military unit.
  • Maintain accurate records of counseling activities while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with reporting standards.
  • Foster strong relationships with unit commanders and personnel, utilizing effective communication and relationship management skills.
  • Create a welcoming environment for service members and their families, encouraging them to seek assistance in a confidential setting.
  • Respond to critical incidents and special requests as directed, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling to meet urgent needs.
  • Adhere to Department of Defense protocols regarding duty to warn and restricted reporting situations, collaborating with supervisors as necessary.
  • Engage in regular supervision and training, sharing insights on trends and issues within the assigned installations.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited program in a Mental Health-related field.
  • Valid unrestricted counseling license from a recognized authority.
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure counseling experience.
  • Ability to effectively engage with military members and their families in various environments.
  • Proficiency in English and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of service members.
  • Successful completion of background checks and security clearances as required.
  • Possession of a valid state vehicle operator's license.
