Position Overview:
The Landscape Operations Supervisor is responsible for the upkeep, management, and aesthetic quality of outdoor spaces, including gardens, pathways, parking areas, and roadways. This role ensures that the standards of the Property, Owners, and Guests are not only met but exceeded, while adhering to all relevant policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the performance of landscaping and grounds staff, ensuring that all areas, including flower beds, lawns, and outdoor furnishings, are maintained to the highest standards.
- Provide training and clear instructions to team members, demonstrating the proper use of tools and materials to achieve quality outcomes.
- Assist the Head Grounds Supervisor in managing administrative tasks related to grounds personnel, including project planning, procurement, and employee relations.
- Coordinate the collection of materials and supplies from external vendors as necessary.
- Directly supervise and organize the activities of the grounds crew engaged in landscaping and maintenance tasks.
- Promote and enforce workplace safety protocols, ensuring safe working conditions and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Implement and manage a preventive maintenance program for all landscaping equipment and facilities.
- Assign tasks to the work crew and regularly inspect job sites to ensure compliance with schedules and proper usage of materials and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials utilized.
- Ensure timely maintenance and servicing of all lawn care equipment, performing repairs and adjustments as needed.
- Conduct inspections and evaluations of equipment and grounds facilities, reporting any issues for work planning.
- Monitor the work of external landscaping contractors to ensure adherence to contract specifications.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless support for events and continuity of grounds operations.
- Contribute to the operational efficiency of the organization by offering insights and participating in cross-functional teams.
- Assist in the daily management of work schedules based on priorities, availability, and weather conditions.
- Evaluate the performance of team members and address any employee relations matters.
- Implement safe practices for the application of fertilizers and pest control measures.
- Utilize appropriate methods for planting and caring for trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns.
- Oversee snow removal operations as necessary.
- Report regularly to the Head Grounds Supervisor regarding the status of ongoing work and projects.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in managing or supervising landscaping or grounds care operations.
Skills: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and climbing. Must possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate effective communication skills.
Dependability: Candidates should provide a history of reliability and strong work performance.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems and other relevant software.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage positively with staff, guests, and community members in a supportive and service-oriented manner.
